Broadcom LAN problem

Out of curiosity, I did set up Snow Leo on a Intel G41 rig with Nawcoms Mod USB.
Everything went well, as expected, but I cant get Broadcom LAN working.

The chipset is BCM57750 14e4 / 1690
In 2011 netkas fixed the LAN kext for various BCM devices, but I had no success so far, neither by installing a patched kext nor by adding device and vendor ID by hand.

Does anybody here have a working Broadcom kext for 10.6 available that I might try?

Did you try the AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext on this one? Supposedly it's also meant for Broadcom chipsets.

You had sent me the kext ages ago when I was trying to get a "NetXtreme BCM5751 Gigabit Ethernet PCI Express" working on the old Dell I had... Unfortunately I had no luck with that one either and had to give up on it, as the kext was for Leo and Snow and I was running JaS.

I had more luck with the AppleBC5751.pkg included on the IATKOS v7 disk. But the Mac could not detect the actual MAC address of the NIC and returns a value of 00:00:00:00:00:00 as being the MAC address. It was a huge problem that I couldn't resolve. I found out more about this old InsanelyMac page (Web Archive) and found that it was a common unresolved issue with this NIC. Tho' someone there seemed to have some success with it. Anyway perhaps the AppleBC5751.pkg may be more suited to your BCM57750 chipset and SL ?

Thanks Mike!
I was counting on you, as always. I did try AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext too, with the correct device ID added, but no dice. iAtkos V7 is a good idea, I´ll try that soon. Not much to do during lock-down, except a bit clean out in the little garden. Maybe a Leopard kext does work with 10.6, no harm trying that.

The working LAN is not a must have in this case, there is a working Atheros WLAN card.
I do recall your mischief with Broadcom, some devices seem to be real odd balls in OSX.

I've left you a note in the other forum in the SL iAtkos topic over there.

Thanks again!
I meanwhile tried all other flavours of BCM LAN kexts I could think of - in vain.
Lets see what your package does.
If none of them are loading either, I´ll give up for now.

No dice either, I did add the device ID in info.plist of course.
The unhappy face is not a mandatary no go, many workarounds have been found since the app was made.
But in this case…

Still not too bad for a random G41 rig, running with an old Xeon cpu from my crap box.
