Basilisk II Update: October 4, 2009

We've got a new build of Basilisk II for OS X available over here:

http://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5887

This one should fix sound problems that some people may be experiencing.

Quote:

"New version build from source 4 October 2009, but without the "SDL audio patch" change that was applied 19 February 2009. The "SDL audio patch" caused poor sound performance, apparent in all BasiliskII for MacOSX builds in the past months."

Thank you for notifying!

Runs fine with my PowerBook G4 with Mac OS X 10.4.11 installed.

Should be a new SheepShaver in a day or two also! The SheepShaver update will include a great number of fixes and features.

It's really unfortunate that the former developer of SheepShaver is too busy to post updates to the emulators on his site. It would be so much easier that way.

Yes, that's bad, but in order to get current versions he's linking to your site:

Sort of. One of the guys on my forum who contributes to the new builds has some editing privilege on the official site. He added that link. He doesn't have the authority, obviously, to upload new builds and so on.

We've started appending the date to the version number to more clearly identify the new builds. So the newest Basilisk II is 1.0.20090805 (or whatever).

Some people complain that the new builds are hard to figure out because the version number doesn't change. But I think on this sort of project, only the "lead" developer has that right. Who knows how these things work...
