background "ramdisk" comes with Tiger

I noticed TigerOS X's Finder maintains a cache of recently used files in RAM able to use all the ram tested up to the 2GB my G4 has. Are there controls over this? Can I "flush" out the cache, or disable this feature.

If you want to know a specific reason, I'm finding antivirus protection software which ends up receiving and scanning the ramcache instead of scanning the physical goods.
