App/script to count mouse clicks (System 7)

I'd like an app/script to count mouse clicks.

Running System 7.

Thanks!

I think this would very simple to do in HyperCard. I suppose tho' it also depends on what you want this for.

I want it to count how many clicks are used in the creation of a piece of art.

Just to make sure I understand what you mean - you'd like the program to run in the background, counting every mouse click you do and then printing that to a window?

Pretty sure I used to use something called Mouse Odometer on my IIsi as a control panel. Recorded clicks and distance travelled.

I'll have a look for it, no guarantees

I definitely know I used Mouse Odometer on my Color Classic. I'm pretty sure it was published on the Info-Mac archive.

[edit] found it! On UMich, not Info-Mac: http://www.umich.edu/~archive/mac/system.extensions/init/mouseodometer1....

From the abstract:
/mac/system.extensions/init/mouseodometer1.1.sit.hqx
35 9/15/90 BinHex4.0,StuffIt1.51

This init, once installed, will keep track of the number of MILES
your mouse has travelled on screen. It's an init/application
package, so launch the application (which works just fine under
Multifinder) to use. The top odometer shows how far you've gone
since Mouse Odometer installation, the bottom shows how far you've
gone since booting up.

[edit2] I didn't realize the UMich archives were still up! I got sucked down the rabbit hole of reading through the abstracts. Back in the day, I wrote a script that scraped the weekly updates so I could see if there was any new software I'd want on there!

Lol! Knowing me, I'd end up with every doohickey they have on there Smile

Back in the day, a lot of it wouldn't run on my Mac, so I just read the abstract with envy.

That was me until I worked for an Apple reseller, then I got to play all day, every day, and get paid for it! Laughing out loud
