Emulation
This app works with: SheepShaver,

Antivirus application for Mac OS 8 and 9. Version 1.6.2 was the last compatible Mac OS 9 version.

Top DL contains the English and French 1.6.2 installers. Full installers, not demos. The .sit file was created with DropStuff 7 on Mac OS 9. The English version is already licensed so no serial number is required. Included, the virus definitions are dated from 10/9/2002.

2nd DL contains the French 1.5.2 installer with serial.

If needed, serial for installers: nmu4-0d4v-s50m-apdb

Compatibility
Architecture: PPC

Caveat : VirusBarrier seems to scanning hard disks permanently, network volumes included. The application is compatible with SheepShaver, but the Unix volume can be slower than normal due to scanning operations.

Might be useful to someone in future: the optional NetUpdate component is useless to you, as the update servers are no longer available. It also appears to be the only component which remains resident on the system when not running VirusBarrier itself (which installs as a Control Panel and Contextual Menu Item). Choosing a Custom Installation lets you avoid installing it.

Additionally, the normal uninstall option in the installer does not fully remove NetUpdate, leaving behind all the NetUpdate components, which then need to be removed manually:

  • System Folder:Control Panels:NetUpdate
  • System Folder:Extensions:NetUpdate Runtime
  • System Folder:Extensions:NetUpdate Scheduler

As far as I can tell, despite it being mentioned off-hand in the manual and in the description, no background scanning is actually occurring or available. Perhaps I avoided this by removing NetUpdate, or perhaps by performing a full scan of both my system drive as well as my Unix share in SheepShaver before proceeding to use the system, as VirusBarrier proclaims to be able to hold onto prior scan results when files it encounters are unchanged.

This is the official Intego upload to The Garden.

The uploader is Jay Vrijenhoek, one of the security staff at Intego, the company that wrote this and the other two Intego packages uploaded (NetBarrier and Personal Backup) with the company's permission - consider them officially free, officially unsupported gifts Smile

Thanks for the upload, Dogcow.

I removed you as author on the page as I expect you did not write the software, and even if you did I would expect the author to use their real name on a product that they wrote.
