Guides on emulating older applications

I recently bought a boxfull of SyQuest 200MB carts and this software comes on each disk. Here is my second attempt of making the archive using, using Stuffit 7.0.3 on a Mac OS9.1

Interestingly, when I connected the Sq drive to my OS9 machine, it didn't mount. On my OS7 machine, the drive loaded SilverLining by LaCie that acts as a driver (of sorts) although I do have some other driver installed. SilverLininginstructions mentions to mount the drive use this SilverLining app or to use SCSIProbe.

Architecture: 68k PPC

Interesting, I ran my "source" file back through Stuffit Expander 4.0.1 and got the same response as mrdav!? Unusual that, although the archive seemed to unpack ok. As we are all concerned about nasty things hiding in software, I'll make a fresh archive from another SyQuest drive and maybe try something else to compress it. I have OSX 10.4 so I'll try using something on that.

I have make another archive, see how this works.

Yes, the ZipZAPP app only, in the "SyQuest_freebies.sit" archive, appears to have a data fork problem.

unar.exe on Windows gives a comprehensive content list when it extracts .sit files.

The tail end of it here:
ZipZAPP/ (dir)... OK.
ZipZAPP/Icon^M (2704 B, rsrc)... OK.
ZipZAPP/Using ZipZAPP (137308 B, rsrc)... OK.
ZipZAPP/ZipZAPP (74236 B, rsrc)... OK.
ZipZAPP/ZipZAPP (1169737 B)... Failed! (Wrong checksum)
Extraction to directory "SyQuest_freebies" failed (1 file failed.)

I get the following error message when unstuffing the download:

"The integrity of the data fork of "ZipZAPP" could not be verified. Use this file with caution"
