Guides on emulating older applications

One of the earliest classic Mac sound utilities, originally shipped with the MacNifty (later Impulse) Digitizer. Classic Mac sounds continued to be called "soundcap" files (among other things) for many years as a result.

Mark Zimmer includes some reflections on its history (and other projects from the late 80s) on his blog:

From the ReadMe:

(Freeware) This is a Sound Capture Package from Fractal Software created and copyrighted by Tom Hedges and Mark Zimmer which can be used to capture and process sounds from MacNifty and/or other sources. Use SoundCap to play and/or modify sounds from SoundFiles.

(Note: The default sampling rate makes some sounds play back an octave too high. In this event pull down the options menu and change the sampling rate to 2.)
