Guides on emulating older applications

Ralink (now a Mediatek brand) made quite a bit of USB WLAN sticks which are compatible with OSX.
Drivers are available from 10.3 Panther up to 10.10 Yosemite.
The drivers are said to be working for the "recent" RT5370 chipset in WiFi sticks too.

The Ralink Utility is always needed to use the WLAN stick with OSX / macOS and the GUI is looking not really Macintosh like - more like a thing taken from a Windows XP app cobbled together for OSX.
Needless to say, a Ralink stick will never show up as Airport.

On the other hand, e.g 5370 USB devices from China are very affordable and they do connect your Mac or Hackintosh with your WLAN router.
If anything else fails, a Ralink stick just works, plugged into a USB2 port.

1. DL is for 10.3 to 10.6
2. DL is for 10.5 to 10.7
3. DL is for 10.5 to 10.8

If my memory serves, the second DL, (Rosewill USB) did work up to 10.10 Yosemite.
