Yes, and this question is to be answered with:
Today, old software needs a container (in this case .cdr or .dmg/img) to be moved to the old (emulated or real) Macintosh system.
It's not an app, it's a portion of the Operating System. ".cdr" is the same as ".iso" (apple loves making their own names for things that already have names). You can rename cdr to iso if you have to.
what's a ".cdr" & a "qdr" & why u guys gotta use something so obscure to download a freakin' app?
This version of QuickTime is problematic on a Performa 6400 running Mac OS 8.1 here: http://macintoshgarden.org/forum/quicktime-5-problem-mac-os-81-performa-...
The solution: On a Performa 6400, you will need to upgrade your Mac OS 8.1 to 8.6 and reinstall QuickTime 5 from this page to eliminate a few system freezes.
Feel free to add whatever missing QuickTime 5.x version you'll find.
