When the open sourced office suite OpenOffice for Macintosh went from version 2.x (X11 based) to version 3.x (native Aqua), all PPC Mac support was officially dropped from OpenOffice.org's web site and only Intel Macintosh versions were made available to the general public. - No PPC 3.x versions were officially sanctioned or made publicly available from the OpenOffice.org web site.

However, the builder[s] of the Macintosh port, compiled PPC versions in parallel to the Intel version releases. This practice was kept up until OpenOffice.org changed hands and control of OpenOffice went over to Apache.

Owing to their now relative rarity, here are some of the native PPC version 3.x releases that I found to be particularly fast & stable when running on PPC OS X 10.4.x (Tiger). All have been archived using the built-in Mac OS X zip utility, use the same for best results when unzipping.

[Top DL]: OpenOffice version 3.1.1 (US English), build date: 2009:08:09
MD5 checksum & filename: 5881b6a5547c060673333927eca86048 *openoffice_311-ppc.zip

[2nd DL]: OpenOffice version 3.2.1 (US English), build date: 2010:05:27
MD5 checksum & filename: 04c723620b8a2553857c85eb8b7fece6 *openoffice_321-ppc.zip

[3rd DL]: OpenOffice version 3.3.0 (US English), build date: 2011:01:19 - This was the final build release made before development of OpenOffice.org was taken over by Apache to become "Apache OpenOffice", and all further PPC builds were halted.
MD5 checksum & filename: f2e11e8dbae6c3ecf1844456385d47cd *openoffice_330-ppc.zip

The above DL's also contain additional native OOo Extensions, such as the PDF Import Extension for editing PDF in OOo Draw.

YW. You have the US PPC version on this page (only the version 3.2, however) :

http://archive.apache.org/dist/incubator/ooo/stable/ Smile

But yes, unofficial or unreleased are very difficult to find... Sad Many things are lost, alas...

Olds versions could be found in the link below

Yes, of course, but not for the unofficial and unreleased PPC native OS X version 3.x OpenOffice (which is why this page is here).

Thanks for the links tho', as I see that not all countries were omitted from releasing 3.x PPC native versions at the time - France and Japan appear to have included PPC native versions with their 3.x releases.

Sometimes they are more than just a few files but, yes, they could be collected into an archive and archived when the opportunity is there. More and more links to old stuff are disappearing.

Perhaps, we should all start uploading those files to MG, whenever we find it. Links are nice, don't use too much space. However, the linked object could disappear overnight without notice.

Here are some nice additions (language packs and other language versions)

Sadly they have been removed. Copies of this rare event are becoming more and more difficult to source (in any language).
