As many here will have a Windows rig around to run MiniVMac, it may be worth noting that Visual Studio 2005 Professional is hosted at
Its a two CD set which can be installed on Windows XP.
Use this serial: KGR3T-F2C26-RRTGT-D6DQT-QBBB3
Now with VC 2005 and the MiniVMac Build app, creating your own flavours of MiniVMac for Windows is hassle free.
If you want the lastest cutting edge app of MiniVMac, you should not go this way. Wink
I can´t see anything wrong with the old version 3.5.8 myself though.

The former build helper app for MiniVMac is hosted here: (Third download).
I found it not too hard to build for OSX (XCode, OSX 10.6) or Windows (W7, Visual Basic 2015).
The Visual Basic 2015 executables do not work with Windows XP or lower though.
I did not try to build for PPC or 68k, but might look into it, if need should be.

You might try the 3.4 builds meanwhile, MacTouch uploaded.
The PPC build is working fine in SheepShaver on my side, btw.

I´ll add your two old PPC apps as seperate DL, uxware.

Its more sad that even they are not preserved from the internet archive (wayback machine)
I only have the 2.2.0 and 2.4 can't check the files now (on windoze pc) at least the 2.2.0 is the binary :

Does anyone still have versions of this built for an OS 9 host? The original website removed that option some time back, but I'd very much appreciate it if someone still had some of the builds...

At worst, there is still the option to try building from source, I guess. Not sure if the author still kept things compatible, though... That removal was such a waste on the author's part.

Good point, thanks! That does the trick for Sierra.
Again, its only of historical interest as new builds do work flawlessly. Good to know the Terminal workaround anyways, if similar errors occur with other apps.

The explanation could be here for this issue... The application Mini vMac could be moved before lauching it, Sierra thinking that the ROM file contains malicious code. I don't know if it is possible to remove this protection from system preferences to avoid that.

MacTouch kindly added MiniVMac (Mac+) 3.4.1 builds for me.
Please note that the imch build will not work in 10.12 Sierra, it will run fine in 10.6 however.
With Sierra MiniVMac pops up an error that a matching ROM could not be found.
Not sure what broke 3.4.1 or at which OS the error first occurred.
3.4.1 is more for the historically interested and a nice collection supporting PPC and else.
Of course recent MiniVMac builds (3.5.8) do work with Sierra without issues.

@scott: It was noted earlier in this page that sound was broken with this Mac II build. It is quite possible that this build was created without sound built in, as its a valid choice when making the Mini vMac variations i.e.; with sound or without sound.

It is better (I think) to get fresh builds for yourself made to suit your own tastes.

Go to the Mini vMac Variations Service page and get a Mini vMac II built to your own specification, That is; with sound enabled, plus the color and screen size you want, etc.

Its easy and you'll get your Mac II build usually with-in 24 hours. You can use the extra files, ROM etc, from what you've DL'd from this page with the fresh build.

I tested minivmac 753 ready to go. It works in 256 colors my modified mac II PPC version of miniv mac 26 but no sound. When I go to sound control panel and turn it all way up and sure it the sound is not muted. It did not work when I did this.

One problem I've noticed: sound doesn't seem to work on the Macintosh II build. I went into the Sound control panel, turned it all the way up (it was all the way down), and made sure Built-In was selected for Output, but it still didn't actually make any sound.
