I used Word 6 and Word 98 for a number of years. Before that I used WordPerfect 5.1 (on a PC) and WordPerfect 3 (on a Mac). Now I am using NisusWriter and FullWrite. I must say, I am glad that my Word interlude is over.

Yes, same for me I thought that it was OK too and highly configurable, you could set it up to how you wanted it to be. Though, I think that at the time 6 came out, it was "bloat ware" for the majority of Mac hardware of the day (I had a Quadra 630 with 32 MB RAM at the time). It doesn't seem so bloated now I can use it on faster hardware and a decent monitor.

Works fine for me on my G4 in 9.2.2.

Personally I've never thought there was anything as wrong with its UI as others claim there to be. I've seen worse (anybody remember BOB?) Of course, I've also been running Windows and Linux (with KDE) for the most part of the past 20 years anyways, so I'm probably just used to using clunky, inefficient UIs...

Don't install on OS 9 or newer, this will crash your system!! Be careful
It's great in Basilisk
No JPG picture format support

It's just a straight port of its Windows brother from the same time. Interface was clunky and unnecessarily changed from 5.1a which everybody seemed to love. It wasn't really designed for Mac users, so everybody just stuck with 5.1a until Word 98 came out. I'm sure it's no worse than using the Windows version, but Mac users didn't want Windows software on their beloved Macs!

Not that I really use it, but I'd like to know why everybody says it's bad,
Is it buggy?, does it crash the computer? not compatible?

(no, Iam not the devil's advocate Smile )

...just plain curiosity 'cuz I've tested it , and to me it's just another Word Processor (brick in the wall)
just the interface a bit different, like the Microsoft Works that came in the Packard Bell Machines
doesn't crash, it works Ok, not a big deal.

- BTW, My Favorite WP is Corel Word Perfect 3.5e and the LOTUS from the Suite 97-

It's bad, but has to be remembered as a warning example for the future.

Well, it has historical value. Like the sinking of the Titanic or the Hindenburg disaster.

Nope, don't take it down. I'm sure there's someone who likes it. (Isn't there always that one person?) I just had to make use of the little star-rating system for once. Smile

Thanks!

You want me to remove it for you?

..I am just trying to contribute, not to criticize

Worst. Word. Ever. I suppose we should keep it for posterity's sake, but I wouldn't recommend this version to anyone. Either 5.1a or Word 98 would be the way to go.
