A very polished and capable word processor, MacWrite Pro 1.5 was the end of line for the MacWrite series from Claris. Top DL is the full install of version 1.5v1. - Second download is the full install of version 1.5v3.
A note about downloads available from above:
CompatibilityIn the late 1980s Claris started a massive upgrade series to produce the "Pro" line of products. The main change would be to integrate all of their products with a consistent GUI based on that of FileMaker. This included a common toolbar bar running down the left side of the screen, and a number of standardized tool palettes. In addition, the Pro series also used common international spelling dictionaries and a thesaurus. The result was a suite of products that all looked and worked the same way, and able to read and write each others formats.
The resulting MacWrite Pro, released in early 1993, was a major upgrade from previous versions. Reviewers almost universally praised the new release as offering all the required tools while still being very easy to use. However, development had been slow; one developer claimed it was primarily due to extremely demanding quality assurance requirements. By the time MacWrite Pro was released, Word completely dominated the word processor market. Pro did little to address MacWrite's rapidly dwindling market share, which briefly stabilized at about 5% of the market before starting to slide again. Sales were apparently dismal, and it was one of the first products Claris abandoned in the mid-1990s.
The word-processing module of AppleWorks is very similar to MacWrite Pro. While it was written entirely from scratch, it retained some of the design limitations of MacWrite Pro. However, later versions of AppleWorks are unable to read older MacWrite Pro files.

Comments
Several of the Claris apps all share the same dictionaries etc, located in the common "Claris" folder inside of the System folder. It's not necessary to wait for a UK version of MW Pro to turn up. Install a UK (or International English) version of another Claris product and you'll have access to those UK dictionaries within MW Pro.
For example, you could download and (custom) install ClarisWorks 3.0, to get the spelling modules that you need. ClarisWorks 3.0 is from the same year as MW Pro 1.5 and its language dictionaries will be the same as those used in MW Pro.
The top #1 download on that page is for the Int' English copy of CWks 3.0, it installs the UK English spelling modules.
To choose the correct spelling module in MW Pro you must choose menu "Style" > "Language" > and select the UK modules. After this your language will be set for UK English.
Apart from the spelling modules, there's no difference between the US, UK or Int' English versions of MW Pro.
Install the US version from this page and use the UK spelling modules from CWks 3.0 and you'll be fine.
But, if someone were to add the UK and/or Int' English released versions of MW Pro v1.5 to this page, that and any other language version added to the page would also be just as good to see uploaded to here.
Does anyone have the British English Installer for MacWrite Pro? I have a floppy disk with the UK Theasaurus and UK Hyphenation (and presumably UK Dictionary) but it has become corrupted and I can't repair it using Disk First Aid. I'd really like to reinstall this and the US version (I don't wish to offend our cousins across the pond) is not the one I'd prefer to use. As someone once remarked, British and American (US) people are one people divided by two langauges…
We've waited several years for 1.5v3. Many thanks.
Thanks, this is the one which comes with PowerPC code as well.
Uploaded MacWrite Pro 1.5v3 full installer as the second download.
@LeoET: You were right, they were unusable in Mini vMac and SSW 6.0.8 or earlier. Problem was they were Disk Copy 6.x (compressed format) images - meaning: unmountable in a Mini vMac window or under a native SSW 6 and earlier systems.
I've replaced the previous archive with something more suitable, for System 6 to Mac OS 9 users.
Couldn't mount the disk images in Mini vMac running System 6.0.8... Says "Damaged disk... Eject or Initialize"? On a Windows 8 machine I don't think I have any option for reformatting them, either.
Review from contemporary magazine (MacFormat 02 — April 1993) added.
Is anybody willing to post version 1.5v3 here as well? That would be awesome!
@24bit: I do own a copy of the English version, Claris Home Page 2.0 and am intending uploading (the Mac & Win installers from it) at some stage. But as the superior Home Page 3.0 is already here, I haven't been in a particular hurry to do so.
About the "LassoLite" interface to FileMaker Pro. I recall this from when I'd purchased CHP 2, new. I had to activate it by registering (free) on-line with BlueWorld. Likely this is no longer possible.
When Home Page version 3.0 became available, LassoLite was redundant. Claris had built-in the Home Page to FileMaker Pro interface for that release, native.
If you decide to upload your German version CHP 2 some time, it'll probably prompt me to archive the English copy to the same page. Or perhaps someone else will, before either of us
I have a Home Page 2 CD (456MB), but as you may have guessed, its a German version.
Extra items seem to be in English though.
ClarisDraw 1.x(successor to MacDraw Pro) springs to mind as being missing. Oops, [appended] alsoClaris Home Page 1 and 2 and 3 (full version).Only Home Page 2 to goHome Page 2 now archived.
I have MacWrite II and the french version of MacProject II. But neither are the original install media. Can anyone help ?
One thing is missing: MacWrite II (1.0 or 1.1). I'm looking for MWII for so long, and I can only find a DEMO which can't save. If someone has MacWrite II, so please upload. I have a bunch of Apple/Claris apps (also from Macintosh Garden). The only apps missing are MWII and MacProject II.
Did you know that ClarisLink.net is down?
Thank you for uploading this! I've been looking for this for ages!
