Lingo creator John Henry Thompson's acclaimed introduction to Macromedia Director and Lingo, the HyperTalk influenced scripting language that gives Macromedia Director projects life.

This book is designed to teach Lingo to people with no prior scripting background. We assume that you know how to use Director to create animation and control the Score. Lingo concepts are introduced gradually with practical examples. Exercises and reviews are used to help build understanding and retention. Concepts are richly illustrated to promote visualization and help build understanding.

We learn best when all our senses are involved. This book has many hands-on exercises and illustrations that you can do and see in addition to reading about a concept.

The first edition's CD-ROM contains a Director 4.0.4 demo, example projects for the book's lessons, over 400 sample projects for each entry in the Director 4 Lingo Dictionary, and some bonus content from Blender magazine and a multimedia startup. Its lesson content is similar to the second edition's, without "Part IV Connecting to the World" and Appendix C which covered changes from Director 4 Lingo in Director 5.

The second edition's CD-ROM contains a Director 5.0 demo, example projects for the book's lessons, and over 500 sample projects for each and every entry in the Director 5 Lingo Dictionary.

In the author's words, "Dig in!"
