Explains why these bonus CD's aren't in our collections (...yet...)
Thanks for the extra info, WhosIt.There & soudesune.

Hi all,
According to issue 44 (December 1996), the second CD is called 'Infopedia Complete' and it contains things like Funk & Wagball's Encyclopaedia, Webster's Dictionary and a World Almanac. I don't have this CD, to the best of my knowledge.
I have no idea about MF39a.

maybe my source of information is wrong and MF39a and MF44a do not exist.

I would think that they did exist, mrdav. The DiskTracker database ("Manual" link above) has them cataloged, and I have a MF mag issue 45 which mentions the double CD issues of 39 & 44 on it's "Back Issues" ordering page.

The DiskTracker database gives a reasonable account of whats on those ROMs:
Issue 44a contains a searchable database only called "Infopedia". - No idea if its of value or a commercial promotional venture.

Issue 39a contains demo installs of Extreme 3D, KPT 3.0, Ray Dream, xRes 2. Of possible interest is a 178MB folder called "New Zealand" it contains 68k & PPC Macromedia Director projectors & data which perhaps promotes the shaky isles. Inside the NZ folder is a sub folder containing 2 more 68k & PPC executables labelled "neural networks" - No idea what these are for in relation to NZ but their labels are intriguing.

I believe that there are also discs MF39a and MF44a. We don't yet have these and I don't know what software they might feature.

EDIT: Now this is curious...I see no mention of these in the MF index on a later MF Cover CD. So maybe my source of information is wrong and MF39a and MF44a do not exist.

I am working on getting Acrobat working on my most powerful mac so that I can convert the scans from the magazines into PDFs.

Great, thanks. Me, I'm working with a 2nd-hand copy of Acrobat 8 Pro for Mac, but it was worth the 200 EUR eggs.

I have all of the MacFormat cover CDs from Jan. 1995 up to December 2000 bar a couple. I also have about 30 magazines from 1994 to 2000. I am working on getting Acrobat working on my most powerful mac so that I can convert the scans from the magazines into PDFs.

The January issue is the only one I have. Please add more 1996 issues if you have them (and make a better screenshot than mine if you can).
