The Mac OS Anthology, intended for third-party developers to test their software against different versions of the Macintosh operating system, was first announced by Steve Jobs at the WWDC in May 1999. Due to its archival nature the various Mac OS versions are stored on non-bootable DVD-ROM media.
The first release came with all Mac OS operating systems from Mac OS 7.0 to 8.5 in a box-set with 4 DVD-ROMs which included up to 25 localized versions of each operating system release. It was sold at a price of $199 or $149 to Apple Developer Connection (ADC) members who ordered before May 14. The price was dropped to $99 in 2000.
The second release introduced Mac OS 8.6 on two additional DVD-ROMs and was available at the end of 1999.
The third release, available in February 2000, added Mac OS 9 in 15 languages on two additional DVD-ROMs. A second box-set labeled Mac OS Anthology 2000 edition added the now 4 additional discs to the original box-set from the first release.
The fourth and final release from 2001 grew to a total of 10 DVD-ROM discs, adding Mac OS 9.0.4 and 9.1 as well as the first release of Mac OS X on two additional DVD-ROMs.

Overview
Mac OS Anthology is a collection of Mac OS or System Software releases in up to 32 languages, spanning from System 7.0 to Mac OS 8.5.1. This collection has been gathered for Apple Developer Connection members to conveniently provide Mac OS releases in multiple languages, with the goal of assisting you in extending your product's reach into international markets and environments.— Excerpt: About Mac OS Anthology ( Mac OS Anthology '99 Disk 1 )
As additional releases of the Mac OS are made available in this calendar year, they will be collated on additional DVD-ROM media and mailed to you as part of your Mac OS Anthology subscription. All subscriptions to the Mac OS Anthology, 2000 Edition, will expire with the release of Mac OS X, regardless of purchase date or expiration date of ADC membership.

Yes. The 1999 disks start at versions 7.0 and end at 9.0 - The 2000 to 2001 disks start at versions 8.5 and end with the US English release of OS X 10.0
Tho' it's a whole bunch easier to see what's up there; If you make use of the DiskTracker database (Manual link above). As it gives you at a glance, a view to the contents of the entire collection (including aliases to content spanning disks), without needing to DL the lot. If wanting a specific language release or particular OS version.
Is there a difference between the first 8 images in the 2000 set and the 8 images in the 99 set?
You sure saw UA-8.1. Do you need the .IMG with the installer?
There also is a place for MacOS RS: http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macos-rs-81-russian
RS-9.1 all only run in Qemu or with real PowerMacs, as you will know.
From my point of view Qemu on Pee Cee is the way to go, as Apple seems to be locking out the average user from the OS more and more with every new release.
Qemu´s performance is comparable to a iMac Bondi blue meanwhile.
The setup string is not very Mac-like, lets hope someone donates a setup GUI some day.
See here for some Qemu proceedings: http://macintoshgarden.org/forum/macoss-90-under-qemu-it-possible
Heh, no, no need in uploading Finnihs, I was looking for Ukrainian.
I´ll have the DVDs in storage, no problem to take a look.
Should I upload MacOS 8 Finnish?
The .img is on DVD 2. Looks Finnish indeed to me.
Well, for some reason there is a Finnish 8.0 CD instead of ukrainian.
Now I doubt whether it existed at all.
Its true that some installers on certain DVDs of 8.5 or 8.6 are not usable, maybe they were garbled on the original DVDs already. This is not a problem as many installers on the 99 flavor are on the 01 edition additionally. With both collections, everything from 7 to 9 is usable without issues.
Hello everyone! I finally finished uploading the Mac OS Anthology '99 Edition to MEGA. I realize that MEGA isn't everyone's favorite cyberlocker, but it works really well if you use Firefox (or its variant Waterfox on Windows) with the MEGA Addon for Firefox. MEGA also has an App for Chrome, but I have no idea how well that one works, your mileage may vary on that one.
I found the Mac OS Anthology '99 Edition floating around here. When I saw the torrent had gone dead, I thought I would remedy the situation!
As I wrote in the description under my external link, Checksums (& Checksum files) are included in the archives themselves, and separate for verifying the archives since this is such a large upload. I've also posted checksums here for reference as well.
Now I noted that these won't work in Sheepshaver and Basilisk due to the former's limited implementation of HFS+ (and research indicating DVD sized images just won't work with it) and the latter's lack of support for HFS+. As a result, these will only work on a real Mac only.
Here's hoping that someday soon, the Mac OS Anthology 2001 Edition (the final edition which has 10 discs) eventually surfaces, so we can have the definitive edition of it archived!
Enjoy!
US Release of Mac OS 7.5 is missing. Was that really not included in the original anthology, or was it somehow deleted?
According to this site : http://www.storiesofapple.net/the-mac-os-anthology.html, the original Mac OS anthology (1999 edition) only contained 6 CDs, going up to 8.6.
There was a 2000 edition adding 2 more CDs, going up to 9.0 (it seems to be the edition available from MG).
Then there was an ultimate 2001 edition adding 2 more CDs again, going up to 9.1 as well as the first OS X version.
Did anyone ever managed to find this edition ?
