Links2 2.21 For PowerPC Panther ported by Alex Free
-----
About
-----
Links2 (homepage is at http://links.twibright.com/ ) is a web browser capable of both a command line and graphical user interfaces. This release is up to date as of 12/23/2020, and supports all PowerPC Macs (604/G3/G4/G5) running Mac OS X 10.3.9 and above. Rosetta is required for Intel Macs to run this build.
Links2 does not support javascript, but it is extremely fast and because this build is 100% up to date TLS 1.3 is supported as well.
-----
Setup
-----
Download and unzip the latest release (r4). Double click the Links2.app. Select either graphics mode or text mode.
The graphics mode requires /Applications/Utilities/X11.app to be installed. The text mode does not. X11 is an optional install in the OS installation of Mac OS X 10.3 and Mac OS X 10.4. On Mac OS X 10.3, it was also provided as an additional separate download. I have uploaded this version to the Macintosh Garden ( http://macintoshgarden.org/apps/x11-panther ). On Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6 X11 is installed in the default OS installation.
--------------
Advanced Usage
--------------
You may want to use this release from the command line. For example, you can use MacSSH ( https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/macssh-21 ) on Mac OS 9 (with Zlib compression disabled in MacSSH to allow it to connect to newer OpenSSH versions) and run the Links2 text mode remotely.
Since this is a portable release that can run anywhere, the commands to run in graphics mode or text mode change depending on where Links2.app is. In the below example commands, Links2.app is at '/Applications/Links2.app'. Change '/Applications/Links2.app' in the commands if Links2.app is somewhere else.
Text Mode:
/Applications/Links2.app/bin/links -ssl.certificates 1 -ssl.builtin-certificates 1 -ssl.client-cert-crt /Applications/Links2.app/cacert.pem
Graphics Mode:
/Applications/Links2.app/bin/linksx -g -ssl.certificates 1 -ssl.builtin-certificates 1 -ssl.client-cert-crt /Applications/Links2.app/cacert.pem

Press 'g' to enter a URL (like a search engine), and 's' to bring up the bookmarks menu. You can then go back or forward a page with the left and right arrow keys, respectively.
how do i even type in a url yet search for anything using graphics mode??????
Awesome work! I look forward to trying it out once I get some down time!
REALLY COOL. I love TenFourFox, but sometimes it is just too slow when all you want is to look up some info in text format.
Excellent work.
Absolutely marvelous!
Wow, cool one! Thumbs up! With ever more bloat added to websites, this will soon be the primary browser on anything lower than a G5
Pretty cool.
Love how this is the latest 2020 release, and it's PPC. Seems like a great option for "lower-end" Macs running OS X.
