Guides on emulating older applications

Hexadecimal file editor with abilities to insert and delete, edit both a file's Data and Rsrc forks, compare files, show disassembled PPC code, much more. Written from 1993 until 2008.

dL #1 is 2008 version 2.2 for OS X 10.4 &up.
dL #2 is 2008 version 2.2 for OS X 10.3 &less, including Classic OS & 68k.
dL #3 is 2004 version 1.9.1 having a nasty bug in its Find&Replace, however this archive has complete documentation and source code.
dL #4 is version 1.8.5, also with complete documentation and source code. Kept here for historical purposes.

One annoying bug persists in the highest v2.2 where the red traffic light in an OS X window's top left does not darken if changes have been made, the red button remain bright always.

The source code and documentation for the latest version can still be found in its official SourceForge page, along with HexEdit in other languages and multiple earlier versions:

Architecture: 68k PPC (Carbonized) x86 (Intel:Mac)

SSW 7, Mac OS 8, Mac OS 9 & Mac OS X. FAT (68k/PPC) & Carbon binaries.

dL #1 (Universal Binary) is better suited for OS X 10.4 and higher.
dL #2 is better suited for OS X 10.3 and older.

Just added SourceForge links for the app. There are lots of versions in there, for quite a bunch of different languages. All the DMGs there contain inside an OS-X-formatted ZIP that has the FAT (68k/PPC) version. It also has source code and documentation, even for v2.2.0, which is missing from this page.

Meaning this specific MG page could use some maintenance/reorganization, if anyone is willing to put in the effort. Especially for identifying the last version compatible with each major OS X version (from Cheetah to Leopard, if not even Snow Leopard and later). Edit: Confirmed working in 10.14 Mojave, as far as I could tell. This likely works across 10.4 Tiger to 10.14 Mojave. Can't test versions earlier than 10.4 right now, though.

hmm, I didn't notice that page was here. I think let's keep separate pages, the OTHER has v1 in its url, a different programmer, doesn't do OSX, and is known to have bugs. thx.

Do you want to fold this in with or keep it seperate because it is Carbonized and had a different code maintainer?
