Gauge PRO is a highly accurate speed measuring utility for the Mac. It reports the speed of your processor and cache as well as testing RAM.

Gauge PRO reports not only the type of CPU but also its speed - to a hundredth of a megahertz. It also reports the cache bus and main system bus speeds. You can't always tell how fast a computer is by looking at it. For instance, the 7500 shipped with a 100MHz 601 CPU, but it could be easily upgraded to run 500MHz with a MAXpowr processor upgrade. So how do you know how fast it is without opening the case and looking at what's installed? Use Gauge PRO!

Gauge PRO reports the type of CPU, the amounts of L1 and L2 cache in the system and the cache bus speed.Even if you open your computer, it's difficult to tell how much L2 cache you have by looking at it (even if you know where to look). The 7500, for example, shipped with a 256K cache module, but it could be easily upgraded to hold a 1MB module. Gauge PRO makes it easy to figure out how big the module is without opening your computer.

Gauge PRO runs diagnostic tests on a computer's RAM (Random Access Memory - what your computer uses to run programs with). Gauge PRO is able to perform one time or continuous testing.Gauge PRO tests memory to determine if the RAM is doing its job.
If it doesn't pass Gauge PRO's grueling read/write tests, you can be assured that something is wrong with one of the memory modules and you can take steps to correct the problem. If you experience random crashing and freezing even with a clean OS installation, the problem could easily be due to one (or more) faulty memory modules.

Not to be confuse with: Temperature Gauge Pro (aka TG Pro)

@laurier: Yes please. It is as you say, version 1.1 - despite the 1.2 in the current DL's file-name.

You think the Newer Technology logo bottom left is the give-away ??

Still, it qualifies as abandonware, and has as much right as Word v6 to be here.

Looks like it comes from a 3rd party processor card manufacturer. I remember something similar from Powerlogix PowerPC G4 card connected into an Umax Clone I mainly used during 8 years...
