Until someone finds an installer for Fireworks 1.0.

Back from my break and have managed to dig this up (mostly). Have made a page for it here.
I tracked down the promo CD for the Win version but was unable locate what became of the Mac install set. I did however, manage to find an unregistered installed copy in my archived collection. So that will have to suffice until someone comes along with the original installer for it (or I manage to find mine).

Sounds good! No hurry, it's December, almost everybody's taking some Winter holiday time.

Until someone finds an installer for Fireworks 1.0.

I'm fairly certain I will have Mac & Win installers for this backed up. My copy is from a magazine CD, circa 1999. It was a full install, promotional giveaway (presumably without any extras that would come on an official CD). - I'm also out of the country for a few weeks so can't check until I get back, mid January.

It wasn't as hard as I thought it might be, to find a good CD. Unfortunately the Goodies are kind of... the sameish, from Fireworks 2 to this one.

Definitely thinking twice about springing for Macromedia CDs after 1998. I'm aware that they were more interested in selling through electronic service distribution (ESD) instead of shrink wrapped, boxed packaging starting from then, but I didn't expect the Goodies to suffer so much in the process.

On the other hand, it's nice to have a copy of the JavaScript extension API documentation, circa Fireworks 4. We already had one for its debut in Fireworks 3 with the CD found in the Dreamweaver 3/Fireworks 3 Studio entry, and this about rounds out the PowerPC non-Carbon releases of Fireworks. Until someone finds an installer for Fireworks 1.0.

First problem is that the Fireworks executable in this StuffIt archive is marked as "locked", so the update fails to apply itself. That's probably why you're seeing some of the tools fail to work, tom-b.

Second problem, as noted below, is that the serial included in the archive is bogus.

I'll attach Attila's findings, unlock the executable, and see about re-uploading this archive. Done.

I'd prefer a CD-ROM image instead of an archive, but as this software falls within when Macromedia was doing more Windows-centric output, it can be tricky to find a good one.

Is anyone else having trouble running the 4.02 update? It fails to find the software on my HD, although I've copied fireworks in to my apps folder. I'm having a bug with the color picker and eye dropper too.

Ah, the dangers of not wanting to give away your own serials, at least not for a product whose developer is still very much in business.

Thanks for checking the serials.

Thanks bertyboy!

All the "FWM400" serials you posted work, and then it asks for the serial you're upgrading from, and the last "FWM300" works in that spot. The following two definitely work in combination:

Apologies. I've sourced a few more, none is mine, cannot promise that any will work.

Not that I'm actually using this, but the included serial doesn't work.
