The vocal "Hä" everywhere in the world
On my setup, there is IE4.5 installed. I'm not sure whether I've it installed manually,
but I think it is a pre-installed one.
In my SheepShaver setup for Mac OS 9.0.4, I also have Microsoft Office 98 installed (Word only) and Internet Explorer 5.0, to load html files (my Sheep is not internet or network enabled). The Microsoft extension files are the only similarity that "PC Bibliothek" shares with other System files, that I can see.
Ah. Played along with "Extensions On/Off" (by using "Mac OS 9 Standard") , the "PC Bibliothek" tells me, it could not find the file "MicrosoftMFC40Lib" (tested with a fresh install of this application, thought) .
In the System Extensions folder, the real file name is "Microsoft MFC 4.0 Library", very well.
Renaming to the file name requested has not solved the problem.
In fact, if it runs fine in Bas for me, this is fine for me.
I just want to help other peoples to get this run in Sheep,
but with this testing, I could not say what's the difference in the System Extension folder,
compared to yours.
@IIGS_User: I've just had this installed on SheepShaver (Mac OS 9.0.4) and the PPC version of "PC-Bibliothek 3.0" appears to be working for me.
Its not FAT, the installer detects the architecture and installs the appropriate application for the platform being installed into. If you look inside the mounted .iso or CD's "PC-Bibliothek f" you will see the applications "PC-Bibliothek 3.0 68k" and "PC-Bibliothek 3.0 PPC" respectively. (So "Fat Free" will be of no use here).
I don't know how to load a dictionary into it... due to my difficulties in understanding the languageBut, besides my inability to use this program, it does appear to run OK in my SheepShaver Mac.
[Edit]: I've worked out how to install the dictionaries. Now working 100% OK, PPC version in SheepShaver, Mac OS 9.0.4 (I haven't experimented with earlier Mac OS's).
Perhaps there is a conflict with some other program or extension you may be running on Sheep?
Thanks for reporting, I've checked the Installer application now,
and it does not offer an architecture option.
Is there an option with the installer (if there is an installer for this, that is), to install for 68k, or PPC, or FAT?
[...]
Edit: Removed my advice given earlier, as it wasn't relevant to the original issue of this program not running in SheepShaver - see my follow-up post above.
"Due to an error", this does not run with Mac OS 9 in my SheepShaver configuration.
Is something wrong there?
But luckily, it runs fine witin Basilisk, even if the software documentation requests a PowerPC based Macintosh model.
Got a sealed original, but really, Toast won't display the CD-ROM in its window, and OS X displays Mac partition only. So I need to manually create an appropriate hybrid CD image of this application now.
I thought I should let display invisible files on the Mac side of this CD-ROM,
and I wonder why it contains some invisible Mac OS X stuff (".DS Store", a folder "␀␀␀␀HFS+ Private Data",...) , but when it's copyrighted 2004, this is no wonder.
I'm sure the file available here let miss the PC partition, so if you come across another copy of this title, please advice.- about original file uploaded here.
