Decode AppleFile is small utility that decodes AppleSingle, AppleDouble, and BinHex files.

To decode an AppleSingle or BinHex encoded file:
    Choose the "Decode AppleSingle/BinHex..." menu.
    Select the encoded file you want to decode.
    When asked, specify where to save the decoded file.

    or
    Drag and drop one or more files onto the Decode AppleFile icon.
    The decoded files will appear in the same folder as the encoded files. 

To decode an AppleDouble file:
    Choose the "Decode AppleDouble..." menu.
    Select the encoded file. (This is the "%" file.)
    Select the data file to be appended. (This is the "non-%" file.)
    When asked, specify where to save the decoded file. 

You cannot decode AppleDouble files by dragging them onto the Decode AppleFile icon.

Decode AppleFile, in combination with MacZip, is a useful tool for recombining extracted Zip files that have been previously archived using the built-in Mac OS X Archive Utility.

This is especially true in regards to running Classic Mac emulators on non-Macintosh hardware, where encountering OS X zipped files can result in unusable files with Data and AppleDouble Resource files left unable to be re-combined. Decode AppleFile can recombine these easily.

Architecture: 68k

68k encoded, also works fine on PPC Macintosh.

For best results unzipping OS X zipped archives (on Classic Macintosh Systems) use MacZip.

Where it mentions (This is the "non-%" file.) above: It = the raw DATA fork files in OS X zip archives.
