For System 7.0 - 7.6 - Mac OS 9
This app works with: SheepShaver, Basilisk II, Mini vMac

An easy to use Macintosh Creator and Type changer for 68k and PPC Macs. Works on SSW 7.0 through to Mac OS 9.2.2 (also under "Classic" on Mac OS X).

Creator Changer will allow you to change what documents belong to what applications, as well as what the document type is. You must have SSW 7.0 or later and at least 160k of free RAM to run Creator Changer 2.8.4.

Contains both 68k and PPC versions in the .sit download. Also contains my own "Preferences" file containing several Creator and File types ready for use (just move this Preferences file to your System Folder's "Preferences Folder" before running Creator Changer for the first time). It can be added or added to at any time if you wish but the default install gives only SimpleText file types initially. Screenshot 1 above shows pull down list of my current possible "Type" changes in the Creator Changer program's window.

See Also: FileType 1.0.1, FileTyper 5.0.1, iLikeYouMore, The Lone Ranger, TypesChange CM Plugin.

Architecture: 68k PPC

Works with any 68k or PPC Mac or Mac clone, it also runs well on Mini vMac, Basilisk II and SheepShaver.

@cwaskowich: Christopher, I am a Gigantic fan of this wee program. I believe that I have used it for all of those 16 years and continue to do so. It has not once let me down. And in Classic Mac computing, for me it is a must have app. I even use it in "Classic" on OS X.

Thank you so much for writing this program and sending it out into the wild. It is one of my all time favorite utility apps for the Mac.

It is absolutely insane to think, that after 16 years since I last did something for this app (18 since I first wrote it), that it is still being downloaded and used. Thanks!

ResEdit works fine, too Tongue

But not quite as quick & dirty as this singular minded tool. Both I find indispensable.

A MUST for Mini vMac (using the Mini vMac tool "Import File"), because the creator of the importet file is "Import File", and not StuffIt, for example.
Thanx alot!
