CorelDRAW vector drawing holds a specific position in the little circle of graphics packages for two main reasons: this program doesn't have any roots in the Macintosh world and there was a long time no Macintosh version. Corel recently launched a Macintosh package (a.k.a. of version 6), certainly to overcome this. As a matter of fact, CorelDRAW is often regarded as suspicious by graphists and other DTP professionals.

Exporting from CorelDRAW
The two formats of choice, to export files from Corel, are EPS and Illustrator 3. These formats are also used to import Macintosh graphics in CorelDRAW. Amongst the formats found in the "Save as" item, TIFF files and EPS files are certainly the best choices.
Importing CorelDRAW Files

Illustrator 7 for Windows may directly open the CorelDRAW files (*.CDR). You can then save the data as native Illustrator file or as EPS file.
CorelDRAW and EPS Files
It is reported that CorelDRAW can open EPS files from the Macintosh without preview or with a PICT preview and save them with a Tiff preview. Such feature can be very handy if you have to position precisely an EPS file in a layout program, e.g. in PageMaker.

I have seen on the wayback machine for Corel, that there is no mention to a 68k version.

Yes. The furthermost I could go back with the WM was to 1996 for this Corel page about the CorelDRAW 6 Suite, which gives the minimum install requirements as PPC. No mention anywhere on their Mac pages about DRAW running on 68k Macintosh.

We may have to give up on the 68k quest for this product. This page is likely to quietly vanish...

On closer inspection there's no sign of those Corel discs being part of a bundle. Usually bundled discs have an Apple part number. So, yeah, I think they were a bonus Smile

I've removed that reference now to avoid any confusion.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for the change to my old account... Wink To give you an answer, I have seen on the wayback machine for Corel, that there is no mention to a 68k version. I believe Corel would like abandon all 68k softwares at a moment like others. But I could be wrong. For sure, they have discontinued all support for 68k versions of WordPerfect in 1999. So...

it looked to be a better fit.

Yes it does and they look great too. Thank you.

Corel certainly went all out with that release. It's hard to imagine that it was part of a bundle with a new Mac. Maybe you just got a really good bargain + extras, when you acquired the P5400 Smile

As the suite is for PPC only, I am wondering now if there ever was a FAT or 68k version of CorelDRAW 6? And if not, then perhaps this page should now become redundant.

All done! I uploaded them to this thread instead as it looked to be a better fit.

@Protocol_7: That is awesome. Thank you and no rush to get it up here, slow up speed or not Wink it's just great that you can do this.

@24bit: I hadn't seen that, thanks. It is what is missing from the Corel Graphics 8 page. If the notice on that page is correct.

To quote:

Note: ...the original CD is required to include additional files, manuals and fonts etc. If you have the CD please consider imaging and adding it to this page.
The CD (or Boxed set) may also be labeled "CorelDRAW 8" only; It contains the full suite of apps mentioned on this page.

So it looks like the uploads at the IA will be the missing items needed to complete that page.

I have the full Corel Draw 6 Suite for Mac here (3 CDs). I'll try and get them uploaded over the weekend. Still have crappy upload speed so it'll take a while.

Somewhat off topic, but did you see this already?

I hope too that an installer disc will surface on the web.

There is always hope Wink

WinWorldPC has two copies of Corel Draw 6 - full install .iso's, one is English the other, German.

Both are for Windows only (in truth I only looked at the English copy and assumed the other is the same).

We just need the Mac equivalent for here.

A genius, may be not. Wink But, yes, I'm aware from where to look. I've compared the two files with MD5 after DL when I see the same size for both. For merging, I was thinking about pictures & text informations here, but not the file, of course. It would be a pity to let the work done by 24bit, no ? And yes, I hope too that an installer disc will surface on the web.

@Franky: You truly are a genius. The old file that you had replaced on that page, is exactly the same file as what we have now on this page.

Both checksums match:
93065e695d50c98d1aa7318e1656c752 CorelDraw6_FAT68k.sit
93065e695d50c98d1aa7318e1656c752 coreldraw6.sit <-- it's still on the server here, if you know where to look.

It seems like whoever stuck a FAT68k teaser into the file name, had possibly DL'd it from here and put it up on some other web site. Given that the old one you had later replaced, was uploaded back in Jan 2011 by themacmeister... Tho' it's also likely that he had also DL'd it previous to this from elsewhere, too.

We won't do a merge. The Suite you uploaded contains other programs not just Corel Draw 6.

Hopefully, one day, someone will find they have a genuine installer for either, and we will get our FAT copies.

Hi my friends,

Pay attention to this page as I've replaced the same (old) archive there by the Corel Suite 6. I've compared them, they are identicals (same size). At least, we can take some informations here for merging ?

@Mike: Thanks for the change you've made to the other account, it will works. I will be back with it very soon...

Cheers,
Franky

Shall we delete the page or iron out?

I would keep this here as a holding page, should an installer for 68k/PPC surface one day.
The current upload, despite being pre-installed at least appears to be working and functional. Although I don't know if it is missing (besides the 68k part) any system resources an installer may have included.

Yes, a hoax.
Many of the stuff from MR was like that already.
Shall we delete the page or iron out?

I don't think this is for 68k Mac, as well.

The DL above is pre-installed and on B2, I get error # "-192" (PPC only, app).

And examining the resource fork via ResEdit, the lack of DATA and CODE resources are also a clue.
