Guides on emulating older applications

ComicBookLover lets you read almost any digital comic. It supports the de facto standard for digital comics, CBR and CBZ comic book archives. A few comics are available in PDF format, and these are also supported. ComicBookLover can also read a folder of images as a comic book.

For earlier versions of this reader see: ComicBookViewer

Architecture: PPC x86 (Intel:Mac)

Universal (Intel/PPC native), ComicBookLover requires Mac OS X 10.4 or newer.

Of the above DL's, the top 1 to 6 contain the original unmodified archive, plus include a patched copy that has had the serial number entry nag-screen removed (PPC only¹) and watermarks removed (both Intel & PPC Mac).
DL's 7,8,9 are original only, unmodified and require registration².

Note: If running the patched copies on Intel Macintosh, you will still get a nag screen each time the app is launched. A workaround for Intel Mac is if you have Rosetta (10.4.x to 10.6.x), run the PPC side only: Choose "Get Info" on the app's icon and elect to run it in Rosetta.

¹ The RC3 release patched copy in 3rd DL , has the nag screens and watermarks removed for both Intel and PPC platforms and requires no workarounds.

² Although ComicBookLover requires registration, it is fully functional and not time-bombed to expire. It does however present a nag screen when the app is launched and each page carries a small watermarked logo.

Thank you mrdav. That works. I should have asked you earlier.

Actually, I'm interested in finding the hex that disables the nag screen for the Intel side - I've succeeded with the PPC side for both watermark and nag, just the nag screen on the Intel side to go. But the code works as is. Thanks.

Code? Do you mean registration code. If so, then the following works with all the above (well, for me anyway...there are other codes available if needed):

Name: Special [K]
Serial: ZAUZ-6CSY-4BM5-G7EL

Although the above zip DL's (7,8,9) are under 10 years, support for ComicBookLover seems to have gone. If you try to reach the Bitcartel website, you are redirected to a 2013 Web Archive page.

I'm hoping that a code or patch to dismiss the nag screen will surface for these programs.
