A terrific Control Panel to allow you to change your desktop background to a black & white or color image under Systems 6-8 (and maybe others). Unlike DeskPicture, ColorDesk loads a single background image during startup, making it appear nice and cleanly before the Finder loads. Works in Grayscale mode by dithering the image (may require Color QuickDraw though, not sure).
CompatibilitySystem 6-8, color or grayscale Macs
Requires a color capable Mac. If running on System 6.x or earlier, Color QuickDraw (32-Bit QuickDraw Extension) is required for color display.
Works great in systems up to 7.5.5 and probably above (haven't tested higher versions).
Loads OK in Mac OS 9.2.2, but haven't tested if it works on this system.
Comments
I have added your first sentence to the compatibility info on the page.
Requires a color capable Mac and Color QuickDraw for color display if running on System 6.
Color QuickDraw is built into Mac OS 7.0 and later, so the separate "32-bit QuickDraw" Extension is not required from 7.0 onwards.
Works well in Mini vMac II ( emulating a Macintosh II ) and System 6. Thanks for this addition.
