A note to fellow naïve players that the updates have to be applied in sequence; i.e. 8.3 cannot be installed directly atop 8.0, it requires 8.2 (and thus also 8.1) to have been applied already.

According to this thread, "Java was decoupled from CodeWarrior around Pro 5 and was cancelled after Pro 8".

If this is true, then Java is decoupled (but not cancelled) from CW Pro 8, so does that mean we have to download the required files separately from somewhere else to "re-couple" it back? Or are the required files already there? Or are they not even decoupled at all and the statement is incorrect?

I'm asking because it seems like any Java coding under Mac OS 9 is best supported by CodeWarrior Pro 8 over any other Mac OS (non-X) IDE.

I also hope, for completion's sake, that bringing back the Pascal compiler and targeting 68k also works for this version, after following the instructions as they are required for Pro 7.

I know that question has been asked by Gera in October but I wondered if anyone can upload the “Reference CD” of CodeWarrior 8. Thank you!

but I find it too complex

I tried CodeWarrior years ago admittedly a much earlier version), but it was such a messy and over complicated process that I gave it up as rubbish. Lightspeed / Symantec Pascal (and presumably the C version, although I never used it) is a FAR FAR better programming environment - none of this mucking about with separate compilers, etc. - just coding, debugging, running (to test), and final building all within the one simple application! It is probably THE best programming environment I've ever used ... just a great pity Symantec dropped it. Sad

I tried the drag-and-drop installation and it worked, but I find it too complex. I stay with the previous version.

thanks a lot! Works fine with 9.2.2, 10.4.11. I Compiled carbon apps on both systems.
For 10.4.11 xcode 2.5 must be installed for 8.3 update.

I could install this on OS 9.2.2, but when I started the IDE, it crashed with bus error 2.
