Checksum Validator is a simple to use utility to calculate and validate checksums (SHA-1 or MD5 digests) for files that you download (or will upload).
CompatibilityTested on Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 (person who uploaded).
Tested working on Mac OS X 10.3 thru 10.6.8 but sadly not in 10.2.8 (another person to come along).

This is phreakin the best. By housing its Icon in the dock, it always calls all its open windows to the front when a new file is dropped on the dock icon. I've been testing this app is: tiny, universal binary, runs slightly faster than the Terminal command md5, handles files larger than 2 or 4 gigabytes, and best of all supports the SHA-1 method of checksum. I never had a sha-1 calculator before (in Tiger ... I use Tiger).
I added a screenshot of CV completing the md5 of itself which will match the md5 code in this page description.
