Guides on emulating older applications

CandyBar allows you to change the system icons in Mac OS X that you normally can't, including the trash can, volumes, default folder, and more!

DL #1 is v. 2.5.1 for Mac OS X 10.1 - 10.2.8, released in 2005 by The Iconfactory. It is the latest version compatible with OS X Jaguar.

DL #2 is v. 2.6.1 for Mac OS X 10.3.9 - 10.4.11, released in 2006. It is a Universal Binary and is the latest version compatible with OS X Tiger. In late 2006, Panic took over selling CandyBar with v. 2.6.1. Earlier in 2006, v 2.6.1 was still sold by The Iconfactory.

DL #3 is v. 3.1.2 for Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), Universal Binary, released in 2008.

DL #4 is v. 3.2.2 which added support for Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard), released in 2009.

Version 3.3.3 provided Lion support in 2011 and the final version 3.3.4 for Mac OS X 10.5.8 - 10.8.5 added support for Mountain Lion in 2012. These will be provided on this page when the 10 year rule is satisfied in each case.

CandyBar 3.x is now free, but unsupported. Panic has provided the following Universal serial number for version 3:

PPQA-YAMA-E3KP-VHXG-B6AL-L

An internet connection is required to validate the code when you enter it.

All released versions of CandyBar can be found here on the Panic web site. These are also downloadable via the Wayback Machine should the Panic web page disappear.

Even though version 3 is now free, I feel sure that Panic would want downloads of recent versions to be obtained from their web site, so we will apply the 10 year rule for hosting versions here.
