ok, I Failed Sad
the drive seems to reject the installation CD. I burnt two copies and they both get ejected (and I ran out of CDs!)
EDIT: I MADE IT! thank you so much

Download, unpack and get a stack of empty CD's, for Windows I can really recommend ImgBurn... now, ImgBurn will most likely not like the .toast extension so you can just rename each file to have the .iso extension instead. This will allow ImgBurn to burn the discs just fine.

Plop the first CD (Install) into the drive, and after the chime, hold down C on your keyboard to boot from CD.. if this fails, you could try looking at Startup Disc from within the Mac OS.

The installer is very intuitive and friendly, and it's near impossible to fail... good luck Smile

Hi! I know this comment is almost on year old but I'm a bit confused with the whole booting/installation process (first time using an old mac systerm here). How should I use these files? Should I burn them on CDs? (is this possible from windows?), are they mountable on the iMac?
I have an indigo iMac g3 that I wish to restore back to its factory settings but I've never done such thing with old systems so I'm very very lost here and I'd really appreciate some help Sad
Thanks!

Sorry for the confusion; I meant that the scan of the front of the disc (the picture of the CD's label) with part number "691-3178-A" is missing--not the mountable and burnable image file associated with that disc.

3178 not included where exactly? I can see it on the list of downloads (3rd DL).

Yikes, testing and installing this took me so much longer than I expected! Sorry about that.

The good news is that this media set appears to be exactly right for my Indigo iMac G3/500 Summer 2001 (available in Indigo or Snow). I think these may also be the correct set for the other iMac's from the Summer of 2001; namely, the iMac G3/600 Summer 2001 (available in Graphite or Snow) and the iMac G3/700 Special Edition Summer 2001 (also available in Graphite or Snow).

It's so good to finally have my iMac G3 restored to its correct, original factory image. Thanks again for all your work to post these media sets.

Oh, I did noticed that the CD label image for disc "691-3178-A" wasn't included in the posting. I don't care myself, but just in case it was an oversight you'd like to correct, I thought I'd share my observation.

Thanks so much! I'll post back after I download and install this with how I made out using it with my Indigo iMac.
