This app works with: Mini vMac

PageMaker was one of the first desktop publishing programs, introduced in 1985 by Aldus Corporation, initially for the then new Apple Macintosh.

Top DL: English version 1.2

2nd DL: French version 1.2

3rd DL: German version 1.2

4th DL: English version 0.8 beta (Mini vMac 512K variation recommended)

PageMaker 1.0 included all the basic elements needed to lay out pages: free form drag and drop positioning of page elements, sophisticated type tools, a well-chosen selection of drawing tools, the ability to import text and graphics (most importantly, EPS files) from other applications, and the ability to print to high resolution PostScript printers with WYSIWYG accuracy. PageMaker not only made desktop publishing possible, it spawned entire cottage industries for clip art, fonts, service bureau output and scanning, and specialty products for laser printing such as foil overlays.
PageMaker was awarded an SPA Excellence in Software Award for Best New Use of a Computer in 1986.
Version 1.2 for Macintosh was released in 1986 and added support for PostScript fonts built into LaserWriter Plus or downloaded to the memory of other output devices.

@Winterlast: Good luck with your quest - I will also keep an eye open for this.

BTW: the beta runs very nicely in Mini vMac Mac II variation, too, running SSW 6.0.8 with MultiFinder enabled Laughing out loud

@MikeTomTom: YW — I'm still searching for v1.0, though!

Thank you, mrdav

If anyone out there has the English language version of this, please add it to this page, also.

I am fairly certain that I grabbed copies off the external links when they were working. I can check next week when I can access my personal archive of MG files. I have copies of most files that were uploaded, or linked to, on the Garden over the last couple of years (Mac OS System CDs excepted).

EDIT: Now restored.

It seems that those versions are available at MacGUI. If they work it would be worthy to have them here too methinks...

Well, at least he did leave a comment Tired

After you click Revisions on this page, click the "Show diff" button, then the "< previous diff " link on the receding page(s) - you can go back to the 1st posting if you want to, plus you can see clearly what was changed (and by whom). Useful info can be gleaned this way, at times.

I see… In any case, "no work" isn't very descriptive.

No links? What happened to them?

This page contained French & German language copies of this PM version, only. They were never uploaded to The Mac Garden (external links only).

You can check for more details by working through the "Revisions" link above, when you next log in.

They were archived at "http://www.uploadstation.com/" (& megaupload previous to that), which no longer exist. - Its just another fine example of why archives should always be uploaded to the Garden, even if hosted externally.

Thank you for that one, especially the German (Kraut) version Smile
I'll add that to my little MiniVMac collection.
