More After Dark: Volume 1 is a collection of 27 modules for the After Dark screen saver. Unlike most such products, After Dark itself was not included and had to be purchased separately. There was no "Volume 2", but a later version of "MAD" Volume 1 was released, which replaced the "Virex-D" antivirus module with "Life".

The first download on this page contains the original installer disks for versions 1.0 and 1.0b.

The second download contains a ready-to-use folder with the bug-fixed modules from 1.0b, plus the "Virex-D" malware-detecting module that was omitted after 1.0 (because the makers of Virex declined to keep its definitions up to date).

Download #3 is a disk image of the original More After Dark: Volume 1 that contains the "Virex-D" antivirus module. This disk image was made from original media and was compressed using StuffIt 1.5.1 and encoded with BinHex 4.0.

Compatibility
Architecture: 68k

DO NOT run After Dark with other screensavers active!

After Dark - Virex D

After so many years of many people clamoring for it, I finally found a copy on one of my old hard drive that still worked. I've added it to Macintosh Garden here: After Dark - Virex D

This question was asked long ago, but for the record: The download here seems to contain Life, not Virex-D.

If anyone has the variant with Virex-D, please upload it!

Just checking, there are 2 minor versions of MAD. Te first version came with Virex-D but it was removed from later issues because there was concern the program was "wearing" down the hard drive. The classic Life was added in place of Virex-D. I have both modules and once I get my Wallstreet working and connected to internet I can download this, transfer it to my main Macintosh Centris 610 and see what's there. Unless someone here can check into that and tell me which one is included.
