I think you just need a connection to install

No, it installs OK. - Its on the first run - after its installed is when the app itself wants to connect. Thanks for the ADE stuff, I'll take a look at it shortly. Tho', I don't have hi-hopes, as I think this software needs to connect to register the reader app with Adobe and lock it to the machine ID it's installed on... not sure, I'm just going by what I've read elsewhere.

[Edit] Thanks again. I removed the ADE stuff as they're locked into your Mac, and I also removed the extracted app, as the top DL gives you this, without an internet connection.

So I bit the bullet and allowed it to connect. As I don't have an Adobe ID, I chose the 2nd option (screenshot 2, above) and that was OK. It runs OK after this. It also still wants to access the networks each time it's launched, but I have this blocked by using Little Snitch. I don't see the point of allowing it that access, as I won't be using it to DL books or for reading locked media.

my version runs without internet - I think you just need a connection to install

so I added some stuff from my /Library (and .plists) for you to play with (ADE_stuff) ... maybe you can edit them to work without "phoning home."

(please delete my upload after you download them ... alternatively, perhaps you can reupload something with instructions if you make it work)

EDIT: sorry, did the above without thinking clearly - added a copy of the application

Also: will it install with Pacifist?

what version is this?

It is 1.7.2 - it also wants to phone home and will not run unless it can. A free software I know, but really. Any way of getting it to work without it doing this?
